This Original Application under Sections 14 and 15 of National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 (hereinafter referred to as ‘ NGT Act, 2010’ ) has been registered exercising suo-moto jurisdiction on a letter petition dated 16/19.10.2023 sent by P Periyasamy, General Secretary, Satellite City Annanagar Kudiyiruppor Nala Sangam, District Trichrirappalli, stating that at Annanagar, Tiruvermbur Taluk, District Trichrirappalli, Tamil Nadu Housing Society was developed in 1984 by Tamil Nadu Housing Board comprising approximately 4000 houses in 560 Acres of land, but drainage is not adequate and solid waste is not also been handled and managed properly in accordance with Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.

In our view, complaint made in this application can be looked into, at the first instance, effectively, by local authorities and Statutory Regulator. Accordingly we constitute a Joint Committee comprising Tamil Nadu State Pollution Control Board, District Magistrate, Trichrirappalli and Municipal Commissioner, Trichrirappalli.

District Magistrate, Trichrirappalli shall be the Nodal Agency for co-ordination and compliance of this order.

Said Committee shall visit the site, collect relevant information and if finds any violation of environmental laws and norms, would take appropriate punitive, preventive and remedial action in accordance with law, within a period of two months, and submit a Compliance Report with Registrar, Southern Zone Bench of this Tribunal at Chennai who may place the matter before the Bench if any further order is required.

With the above observations/directions this Original Application is disposed of.
