[1] Heard Mr. HS. Paonam, learned senior counsel assisted by Mr. A. Arunkumar, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mr. S. Chittaranjan, learned Addl. A.G. assisted by Mr. A. Priyokumar Sharma, learned counsel on behalf of the State respondent.

[2] By the present petition, the petitioners prayed for expediting the proposal of the Director (Fisheries), Government of Manipur dated 11.02.2026 submitted to the Commissioner (Fisheries), Government of Manipur for expediting creation of supernumerary post of Fishery Officer in terms of the liberty given by this Court in judgment dated 23.12.2025 in WP(C) No. 619 of 2023 and connected matters. The petitioners who are also parties in those matters were directed to submit representation to the State Government for creating of supernumerary post for the loss of opportunity by them due to inconsistent stand of the State. In pursuance to the above liberty, the petitioners submitted representations and acting upon the representations and in terms of the liberty granted by this Court, the Director (Fisheries), Government of Manipur submitted a representation dated 11.02.2026 to the Commissioner (Fisheries),

Government of Manipur. When the matter was taken up on 07.09.2026, this Court was informed that the proposal of the administrative department has been cleared by the Law Department, DP and Finance Department and the matter is awaiting final approval from the competent authority. The substantive prayer in the present petition is for expediting the proposal submitted by the Director (Fisheries), Government of Manipur for creating supernumerary post in view of the liberty granted by this Court.

[3] Mr. S. Chittaranjan, learned Addl. A.G., submits that the State Government will reply some more time and prays for two more two weeks’ time.

[4] This Court is of the view that instead of giving more time, the writ petition may be disposed of by giving a direction to the State respondent to expedite the proposal dated 11.02.2026 submitted by the Director (Fisheries), Government of Manipur within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. However, it is clarified that this Court does not express any opinion on the merit of the case.

[5] With the above direction, writ petition is disposed of.
