The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus forbearing the respondent from dispossessing the petitioner from Shop No. 196, Nayadi Market, left side at the inner entrance, Taxation No. 6240188, Central Zone, Madurai Corporation.

The petitioner claims to be in possession of the said shop as a licensee and contends that the respondent, without following due process of law, is attempting to dispossess him from the said premises.

Mr. S. Vinayak, learned counsel appearing for the respondent, accepts notice and, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner’s licence period in respect of the said shop has expired and that the petitioner is in arrears of rent. It is further submitted that the respondent is contemplating appropriate steps to evict the petitioner in accordance with law. The said submission is recorded.
