Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, forbearing the Respondents No.1 to 4 from giving electricity connection to the Respondent No.5 to 7 without considering and passing orders on the petitioner's objection dated 20.01.2022 and 29.01.2022 in respect to prevent the illegal sand quarrying in Pambaru river and water catchment area, remove the encroachment practically electricity polls which are erected illegally in Ramparu River bed water catchment area and challenged patta proceeding against the respondents 5 to 7 in the Survey No.319, 320/2 and 323/7, Valarmanickam Village, Thirumayam Taluk, Pudukottai District and W.P.(MD).No.14878 of 2019, W.P.(MD).No.15038 of 2019 and W.P.(MD).No.15565 of 2019 were pending before the Honble Madurai Bench of Madras High court, Madurai.

2.The writ prayer is in two parts. The first part is to forebear TANGEDCO from giving electricity connection to the respondents 5 to 7 without considering the writ petitioner's objection.

3.This writ petition was filed in February, 2022. Today ie., 09.04.2026, when the matter was taken for hearing, the learned standing counsel for TANGEDCO submitted that agricultural service connection was already effected for the private respondents and that the first part of the prayer no longer survives and that it has become infructuous.

4.The other part of the prayer is to remove the encroachment made in Ramparu River bed. It is seen that for providing electricity service connection for the private respondents, some electric poles had been laid. We do not want to construe it as an encroachment. We do not find any

merit in this writ petition and it stands dismissed. No costs.
