This Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ

of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representations dated 20.05.2024 and 12.08.2024 and to provide a new domestic electricity service connection to the petitioner's residential premises situated at Ward No.29, Attrangarai Street, behind Selvaprabhu Towers, west of Dheveendrakula Graveyard, Theni, Theni District, by accepting the indemnity bond in Form IV prescribed under the Tamil Nadu Electricity Distribution Code, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

situated at Ward No.29, Attrangarai Street, behind Selvaprabhu Towers, west of Dheveendrakula Graveyard, Theni, Theni District. It is his submission that the petitioner has applied for a new domestic electricity service connection. However, the respondents have not provided the electricity service connection on the ground that the petitioner has not produced the requisite title documents. According to the learned counsel, in terms of the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Distribution Code, an applicant is entitled to seek a new electricity service connection by furnishing an indemnity bond in Form IV wherever production of title documents is not feasible. Despite the petitioner having submitted representations dated 20.05.2024 and 12.08.2024 requesting the respondents to receive the indemnity bond and provide the electricity service connection, the same have not been considered. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.

authority to consider the petitioner's representations dated 20.05.2024 and 12.08.2024 and pass appropriate orders thereon within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

5.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to consider the petitioner's representations dated 20.05.2024 and 12.08.2024, after affording an adequate opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested or affected parties, if any, and thereafter pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
