Heard learned counsel for the parties.

Through this public interest litigation, voice of farmers is

sought to be raised highlighting that the old electric motors, which were installed over 73 years ago, are unable to draw sufficient water for the purposes of irrigation.

The additional grievance is that proper steps towards strengthening of bund and desilting have also not been taken, though assured earlier.

In response, learned State counsel has placed for perusal of the Court G.O.(2D) No.19, Water Resources (S1) Department, dated 4.7.2025, which deals with the aforesaid aspect.

Learned State counsel submits that once the decision has been taken by the Water Resources Department, the grievance would be redressed by replacing two old electric motors as early as possible and, in any case, within a period of six months.

He also submits that other steps required to be taken towards desilting and strengthening of bund shall be undertaken and completed as early as possible so as to ensure proper supply of water for the purposes of irrigation of over 1200 acres of land.

petition, at this stage, is disposed of with a direction that necessary steps, as stated in G.O.(2D) No.19, dated 4.7.2025, shall be taken within a reasonable period and, in any case, within a period of six months. There shall be no order as to costs.
