By consent of learned counsel on both sides, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

The present writ petition is filed praying for a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 2 herein to consider petitioner’s representation dated 05.06.2026 and consequently direct respondents 1 and 2 to disburse the pension sums to the pension account bearing No. 0940101014361 with 1^st respondent bank.

Learned counsel for petitioner would submit that petitioner retired as Matron-II on 30.09.1996 from Indian Railways and a long-standing pension account holder with the 1^st respondent Bank. While so, it is submitted that petitioner’s pension was abruptly discontinued during the year 2021 on the ground of non-submission of life certificate. It is the case of petitioner that a valid life certificate dated 11.11.2025 was submitted to 1^st respondent along with non-remarriage certificate dated 12.11.2025, through e-mail on 16.11.2025, 19.11.2025 and 25.11.2025, however, the same was not considered. Thereafter, petitioner submitted a detailed representation on 05.06.2026 to the respondents, which is stated to be kept pending. Hence this writ petition.

At the outset, learned counsel for 2nd respondent on instructions would submit that certain documents ought be furnished by petitioner.

Learned counsel for petitioner would submit that they may be intimated about the certificates/ documents which are required within a period of one week and would request that they may be called for enquiry within a period of two weeks thereafter. Agreed to by the learned counsels for respondents.

Learned counsel for petitioner would further submit that petitioner is 85 year old and she may not be able to appear in person for enquiry and would request that petitioner may be permitted to be represented by her power of attorney for enquiry.

In that view of the matter, 2nd respondent is directed to intimate the petitioner regarding the certificates to be furnished, within a period of one week from the date of uploading of web copy without waiting for receipt of certified copy of the order. On such intimation, petitioner shall appear for enquiry along with requisite certificates before the appropriate respondent within a period of two weeks thereafter. Keeping in view the age of petitioner, petitioner shall be represented by a lawyer or power of attorney for enquiry. If the requisite documents are submitted by petitioner within the stipulated time, respondents

shall consider the same and if petitioner is entitled to pension/ any benefits, the

same shall be disbursed to the petitioner within a period of six weeks thereafter.
