Heard both sides.

The second petitioner appear to be an innocent purchaser. The first petitioner held lands in excess of the ceiling limit set out in Tamil Nadu Urban Land Ceiling Act, 1998 vide order dated 21.08.2025. The Authority made it clear that the second petitioner’s purchase cannot be regularised. Challenging the same, this writ petition has been filed.

Meanwhile, the Government has come out with G.O.Ms.No.149, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Urban Land Ceiling Wing, ULC-I(2) Section, dated 09.02.2026. The petitioners can very well submit a fresh application in terms of the said G.O.. If the petitioners submit such an

application, it shall be disposed of on merits and in accordance with law by the

third respondent within a period of six weeks thereafter.
