This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking direction to respondents 1 and 2 to take immediate action to release the declared/promised funds for the improvement of the schools as per the proceedings of the first respondent dated 1.12.2022 to the third respondent school and other

The first respondent has filed a status report, affirmed on 27^th

March, 2026, stating that an amount of Rs.24,40,000/- has been allotted to the third respondent school for infrastructure and maintenance works and shall be provided from the budget head “2059-01-053-AR-31801” for school maintenance during the financial year 2026-2027. Paragraph 8 of the status report is reproduced hereunder:

“8. It is further submitted that, vide the proceedings of the Director of School Education (First Respondent) in R.C.No.020862/N2/S1/2025 dated 26.03.2026, (the copy of the said proceedings is enclosed herewith for kind perusal of the Hon’ble court) orders have been issued to the Engineerin-Chief and Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department, Chennai-600005, to carry out the infrastructure and maintenance works at the Government Higher Secondary School, Uthamapalayam, Tiruppur District, for an estimated amount of Rs.24,40,000/- (Rupees Twenty four Lakhs and Forty thousand only) as per the latest estimate of the Public Works Department to carry out maintenance and repair works for the said school. The said funds will be provided from the budget head “2059–1-053AR-31801” for school maintenance during the financial year 2026-2027, in addition to the sum of Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs only) which was already allocated during the financial year 2023-2024. It is humbly submitted that a

total amount of Rs.27,40,000/- (Rupees Twenty Seven Lakhs and Forty thousand only) has been allotted to the said school for infrastructure and maintenance works.”
