The petitioners/accused facing trial in Spl.S.C.No.7 of 2025 before the learned Principal District Judge, Chengalpattu, for the offence under Sections 7 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 filed this petition to direct the learned Principal District Judge, Chengalapttu to expedite the trial and dispose the case.

2.The contention of the learned counsel for the petitioners is that FIR registered, petitioners arrested on 11.01.2019 and thereafter, charge sheet filed before the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chengapattu on 07.01.2021. The petitioners on receipt of summons appeared before the Trial Court regularly. He would submit that the case was not progressing and kept pending from 07.01.2021 till the case was transferred to the file of the Principal District Court, Chengalpattu on 06.10.2025. The case is now re-numbered as Spl.S.C.No.7 of 2025 and posted for examination of witnesses on 12.02.2026. He would further submit that from the year 2021 to 2026, for no fault of the petitioners the case is not progressing and the petitioners were made to suffer. now contemplated against the first petitioner on the same set of facts. Since the petitioners have been falsely implicated and they are certain about succeeding in the trial and thereafter to restore their status, this petition is filed to expedite the trial and dispose the case.

3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that the defacto complainant has clearly spoken about the demand of bribe by the accused and averments in the complaint has been confirmed by the official witnesses in their statements. He would further submit that on completion of investigation and getting sanction from the authorities, final report has been filed on 13.05.2022 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chengalpet and thereafter, the case has been transferred to the Principal District Court, Chengalpet and there are totally 13 witnesses listed and 21 documents have been filed in this case and the case is posted for examination of L.W.1, who accorded sanction, on 12.02.2026. He further submitted that there are 52 Vigilance and Anti Corruption cases pending before the Principal District Court, Chengalpet and hence, requested sufficient time may be granted for disposal of this case, due to heavy pendency of the cases, it may take some time and the prosecution is ready to complete the trial within the time Page No.3 of 6

stipulated by this Court. He would further submit that as and when the case is listed before the Trial Court, witnesses will be produced and they will not be the reason for the delay.

4.Considering the submissions made and on perusal of the materials, it

is seen that the case is now posted for examination of witnesses on 12.02.2026, there are only 13 witnesses and it is a case of trap. The Trial Court to give preference to this case, proceed with the trial and complete the same as expeditiously as possible.

5.With the above direction, the Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
