This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to re-issue Passport Application No. TR2075404768025 dated 23.07.2025, by recording the petitioner’s date of birth as 21.12.1968, based on her explanation dated 09.09.2025.

Mr.M.Muthun, learned Central Government Standing Counsel, takes notice for the first respondent. Mr.S.Prakash, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), takes notice for respondents 2 and 3. By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

It is the case of the petitioner that she had earlier applied for reissuance of her passport, which had expired on 29.12.2005. In the said passport, her date of birth was mentioned as 11.03.1969. However, in her Aadhaar card and other related documents, her date of birth is reflected as 21.12.1968. According to the petitioner, 21.12.1968 is her correct date of

birth. After the expiry of her passport, she did not renew it. Now, she has applied for re-issuance of her passport based on the available documents reflecting her date of birth as 21.12.1968. Though she has submitted her explanation, the passport authorities have not considered the same, which has led to the filing of the present writ petition.

The learned Standing Counsel appearing for first respondent submits that the petitioner’s application will be considered in accordance with law.

In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner’s passport application, by taking into account her explanation and the available documents, and pass appropriate orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
