PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 4 to open the temple Arulmighu Sri Kodangi Kaliyamman Temple, Melakarai Village, Kovinthamangalam Post, R.S.Mangalam Taluk, Ramanathapuram District and keep it for public worship and direct the 1st respondent to dispose O.A.Nos.46 and 51 of 2024 within the time fixed by this Court and shall ensure proper and the peaceful worship of the deities and the conduct of Sivarathiri festival and other festivals in the temple administered by the Devendrakula Velalar Community people Melakarai Village with all usual and regular practices in the temple.

District and keep it for public worship, to direct the first respondent to dispose of O.A.Nos.46 and 51 of 2024 and shall ensure proper and peaceful worship of the deities and the conduct of Sivarathiri festival and other festivals in the temple administered by the Devendrakula Velalar Community people Melakarai Village with all usual and regular practices in the temple.

Pursuant to the order dated 27.01.2025, the Tahsildar and the Village Administrative Officer are present before this Court and they have handed over the key to this Court, which, in turn, has been handed over to the petitioner on the undertaking given by the petitioner that the petitioner will not prohibit the fifth respondent or any other person from worshipping the deity of the temple during the interregnum, between which the Joint Commissioner concerned will dispose of O.As., filed by both the petitioner and the fifth respondent pending before him within a period of six months.

The Writ Petition stands disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to dispose of O.A.Nos.46 and 51 of 2024 pending on his file within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made

clear that the petitioner shall not in any way intervene with the worshipping of the deity by the fifth respondent or any other person. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed.
