Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pay the petitioner interest at the rate of 18% per annum, for the period of delay from 01.07.2023 to 15.04.2025 in paying the amounts paid towards his terminal benefits, namely EPF Employee's Contribution, Gratuity, Encashment of Leave within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court.

The instant writ petition has been filed by a retired employee of the respondent Transport Corporation, seeking a Mandamus directing the respondent to pay interest at the rate of 18% per annum for the belated payment of petitioner’s terminal benefits.

According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner was appointed in the respondent Transport Corporation on 01.11.1987, and he had attained superannuation on 30.06.2023. The terminal benefits were disbursed belatedly to the writ petitioner only on 16.04.2025. Hence, he sent a representation on 02.06.2025, seeking interest for the belated payment. Since, there is no response from the respondent authorities, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Considering the above said facts, the respondent is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% from the due date till the date of disbursement, within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of.
