This petition is filed praying for issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the records in connected with impugned order, dated 19.03.2025 in proceeding No.RO-VLR/290/2025-CAMP(A) passed by the first respondent and quash the same and direct the respondents to grant ordinary leave for 30 days without escort to the detenue, Karunanithi, S/o Manoharan, aged about 55 years Convict No.15157, (PID No.585) confined at Central Prison, Cuddalore.

Learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents produced a copy of the order of the Honourable Supreme Court in Criminal Appeal No.1078 of 2012, dated 08.12.2025 (Karuna and another Vs. State rep. by Inspector of Police and another), from which it could be seen that pending the present Writ Petition, the detenu has approached the Honourable Supreme Court and the Honourable Supreme Court released the detenu on bail.

Heard learned counsel for the parties.

Having regard to the fact that the

applicant-appellant no.1 (Karuna) has already undergone nearly 24 years of custody as per the custody certificate dated 01.11.2025 and that his co-accused has already been released on bail, coupled with the circumstances that the final hearing in the instant appeal may take some more time, however, without expressing any opinion on the merits, the sentence awarded to the applicant-

appellant is ordered to be suspended.

Consequently, the applicant-appellant no.1 (Karuna) is ordered to be released on bail subject to the satisfaction of the Trial Court.

The Interlocutory Application is disposed of accordingly.
