PRAYER: This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India seeking Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the records of the impugned G.O.Ms.No. 494 dated 23.10.2018 Health and Family Welfare (MCA-2), issued by the 2nd respondent, quash the same and consequently direct respondents 1 and 2 to permit the Heads of Departments of medical colleges and institutes to apply for the post of Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR University.

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking quashment of the impugned

G.O.Ms.No. 494 dated 23.10.2018 Health and Family Welfare (MCA-2), issued

by the 2nd respondent and for consequential direction to respondents 1 and 2 to

permit the Heads of Departments of medical colleges and institutes to apply for

¶23

the post of Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR University.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the basic rules for

appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R., University were

amended in the year 2023, and therefore, the cause in the present Writ Petition

does not survive.
