The writ petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India by Pon.Thangavelu, Secretary, Rajan Nagar and Selva Nagar Welfare Association, sought a writ of mandamus directing respondents 1 to 4 (Commissioner, Chennai Metropolitan Corporation; Commissioner of Police, Chennai Metropolitan Police; Zonal Officer Zone-XV, Corporation of Chennai; Tahsildar, Sholinganallur Taluk) to consider the petitioner's representations dated 10.08.2022, 16.11.2022, 18.11.2022 and 22.11.2022 for implementing a drainage and drinking water scheme for which a work contract had been issued, and to remove encroachments allegedly made by respondents 5 to 20 at Door Nos.2/187, 2/187A, 2/204, 2/205, 2/206, 2/211, 2/211A, 2/218, 2/219B, 2/219C, 2/213, 2/191 and 2/191E, Survey No.253/2 area, Hanuman Colony (Rajan Nagar 1st, 2nd and 3rd Streets), Injambakkam, Vettuvankeni Link Road, Chennai Corporation Division No.197, Zone XV. CMWSSB had been suo motu impleaded as respondent 21 by order dated 02.08.2024. Before any adjudication, Mr.A.P.Surya Prakasam, learned counsel for the petitioner, made an endorsement withdrawing the writ petition and W.M.P.No.23755 of 2024; the court acceded to the request, dismissed the writ petition and W.M.P.No.23755 of 2024 as withdrawn/closed, closed W.M.P.Nos.36740 & 36747 of 2024, and ordered no costs. No finding, holding or adjudication on the merits.
