The petitioner seeks a direction to the 1^st respondent to dispose of the

pending appeal in CIT(A), Chennai-8/10788/2015-2016 relating to the assessment year 2012-2013 within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

The appellant states that it filed its return of income for the

assessment year 2012 – 2013 on 29.11.2012 and that the said return of income was selected for scrutiny assessment. Aggrieved by the assessment order dated 24.03.2015, the petitioner filed an appeal under Section 246A of

the Income Tax Act, 1961 in the office of the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Chennai, on 12.05.2015. By this writ petition, expeditious disposal of the said appeal has been prayed for.

Mr.V.Mahalingam, learned Senior Standing Counsel (IT), accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. He submits that the appeal would be disposed of expeditiously within a reasonable time as fixed by this Court.

The appeal was filed in May 2015. Therefore, a case is made out for issuance of a direction for the expeditious disposal of such appeal.

Accordingly, W.P.No.36320 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the

1^st respondent to dispose of Appeal No.CIT(A), Chennai-8/10788/2015-
