The present writ petition has been filed challenging an order passed by the 1^st respondent, rejecting the request of the petitioner for grant of survey and land register in respect of Survey No.55, Avaniyapuram Village, Madurai South, Madurai District on the ground that the SLR register is in a dilapidated condition.

Heard the learned counsels on either side.

When the document that is sought for is in such a condition, it

could not be copied. It would be difficult for the authority to issue copy of the same.

However, Mr.M.Prakash, learned Additional Government

Pleader brought to the notice of the Court that these records have been copied earlier and has been in the archive of the Land and Survey Department at Chennai and that it is open to the petitioner to approach

the office of the Director of Survey and Settlement, Ezhilagam, Chennai

and make an application to obtain a copy of the same.

In view of the aforesaid submission, the petitioner is directed to approach the office of the Director (Survey and Settlement), Ezhilagam, Chennai and make an application for obtaining a copy of the required documents.

With the aforesaid direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of.

No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed.
