Petitioners have come up with the present Writ Petition seeking a direction to the Respondents to provide alternate accommodation for in situ rehabilitation and to protect their livelihood and their families, in any of the available areas nearby Korattur, pursuant to their representation dated 29.07.2021.

According to the Petitioners, they are residing in an area situated near Korattur lake along with their respective families for several decades. They made representations to the Respondents on 17.12.2007 and 18.06.2008 seeking grant of Patta. Subsequently, they filed W.P.No.1294 of 2009, whereby, this Court, by an order dated 02.03.2016 held that, there cannot be regularization of encroachments. Pursuant to the said order, Petitioners were evicted on 13.10.2018 from the places where they have been residing and alternate sites were given at Perumbakkam, which is 56 kms away from the present locality. Hence, Petitioners made representations to the Respondents on 26.04.2019, 14.05.2019, 24.05.2019, 20.08.2019 and 10.10.2019, expressing their grievance that, there is no proper infrastructure and necessary amenities in Perumbakkam, and requested them to provide them alternative accommodation. As no orders are passed on their representations till date, Petitioners have come up with the present Writ Petition.

Learned counsel for the Petitioners submitted that, this Court may issue a direction to the 3^rd Respondent herein to consider the Petitioners' representation dated 29.07.2021 and pass appropriate orders within a stipulated time.

Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the material documents available on record.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and without going into its merits, this Court directs the 3^rd Respondent herein to consider the Petitioners' representation dated 29.07.2021 in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders after affording an opportunity of hearing to the Petitioners, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
