The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to direct the Respondents to consider the representation dated 09.09.2021 and consequently to take appropriate action against the illegal fishing carried by the fishermen using the country boat in and around Nagapattinam Coastal Area.

2.The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner's society is registered with the competent office under Section 17 of the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Societies Act, 1983 and it consists of more than 1400 members who are fishermen. The petitioner approached the authorities several times to take appropriate action against the illegal fishing activities of the fishermen of Nagapattinam and other neighbouring villages as the illegal activities of the said persons are seriously affecting the livelihood of the small fishermen, however, no action was taken by the authorities. Hence, the petitioner sent detailed representation on 09.09.2021 to all respondents to take appropriate action for violating the conditions of fishermen and illegal fishing activities in and around Nagapattinam Coastal Area and till date no action was taken against them. Hence, this Writ petition.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that without going into the merits of the case, it would suffice, if this Court issues direction to the respondents to consider the representation dated 09.09.2021 and to pass appropriate orders.

4.The learned counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that the respondent will consider and pass orders on the representation of the petitioner within the time stipulated by this Court.

Heard the arguments advanced on either side.

6.In view of the aforesaid submissions, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 09.09.2021 on merits and in accordance with law and pass

appropriate orders, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. This writ petition is accordingly disposed of. No costs.
