call for the records pertaining to the impugned sanction for work by the 3rd respondent in Na.Ka.No.M5/1081/2019 dated 3.9.2019 and to quash the same and consequently to direct the respondents to de-silt and strengthen the Lake Bund of the Poyyapakkam Lake situated at Poyyapakkam Village, Koliyanur Block, Villupuram Taluk, Villupuram District, up to a big tank and thereafter lay the Lake Bund road.

The petitioner asserts that the Poyyapakkam lake, which is situated at Poyyapakkam Village, Koliyanur Block, Villupuram Taluk, Villupuram District, has not been desilted for several years. Therefore, the present petition has been filed to direct the official respondents to desilt and strengthen the lake bund of the Poyyapakkam lake before laying the lake bund road.

The writ petitioner states that the Poyyapakkam lake is vested with the Public Works Department and that the lake has not been desilted for several years thereby reducing the storage capacity of the lake. In spite of submitting multiple representations and requests under the Right to Information Act to the official respondents, no action has been taken. Instead, the lake bund road has been laid very poorly and without undertaking the aforesaid desilting process.

M/s.R.J.Radhika, learned Government Advocate appears on behalf of respondents 1 to 5 and submits that the third and fourth respondents would consider the representation of the petitioner and dispose of the same by a reasoned order within a specified time-frame.

Accordingly, without examining the merits of the matter, the petitioner is permitted to submit a fresh representation to the third and fourth respondents within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Upon receipt thereof, the third and fourth respondents are directed to consider such representation and dispose of the same by a reasoned order

within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt thereof.

W.P.No.18949 of 2020 is disposed of without any order as to costs. Consequently, W.M.P.Nos.23509 and 23510 of 2020 are closed.
