The relief sought for in the present writ petition is for a direction to direct the respondents to promote the petitioner to the Rank of Station Officer (Transport) with effect from 14.05.2012 within the time stipulated.

2.The grievance of the writ petitioner is that he was not considered for promotion to the Rank of Station Officer. This Court is of the considered opinion that during the pendency of the writ petition, the Principle Bench of Madras High Court passed an order stating that the seniority in the cadre of Fireman and Leading Fireman is to be fixed State while and in other words State-wise seniority is to be published enabling all the officials to get equal opportunity in the matter of promotion to the post of Leading https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Firemen as well as to the post of Station Officer. Pursuant to the above orders, the Fire Service Department to take an action to revise the seniority based on the direction issued by the High Court. In this view of the matter, the merits raised in the writ petition at this point of time deserve no consideration. However, the case of the petitioner also to be considered along with all other eligible candidates, who all are aspiring to secure promotion to the post of Station Officer. In this regard, the writ petitioner is directed to submit a fresh representation setting out the entire facts and circumstances as well as the document and receipt of any such representation, the respondents are directed to consider and pass orders as expeditiously as possible.

3.With these directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
