The petitioner has participated in the examination conducted by the second respondent viz., Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board for selection to the posts of GradeII Police Constable, Grade-II Jail Warder and Fireman, for the year 2017 and he has secured 62 marks. Grievance expressed by the petitioner is that the respondent has failed to award marks for National Service Scheme (NSS) certificate and therefore, a direction be issued to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation seeking grant of sufficient marks for having possessed NSS certificate.

Mrs.Narmadha Sampath, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that although the petitioner has not enclosed the NSS certificate, it carry only 1/2 marks as per the notification and even if the petitioner is awarded with 1/2 marks, still he will not come within the zone of consideration, as the total cut off mark fixed for the category of Grade-II Police Constable is 64 marks.

It prima facie appears that even if the petitioner succeeds before this Court and granted 1/2 marks for having possessed NSS certificate, he will not fall within the zone of consideration, as the total cut off marks prescribed for the category of Grade-II Police Constable is 64 marks and whereas the petitioner has secured only 62 marks.

This Writ Petition fails and accordingly it is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
