This Court, by an order dated 19.12.2018, disposed the above writ
petitions with the following directions:
petition is rejected.
2. The second respondent District Collector is
directed to identify all the encroachments in water bodies, water resources and Government poromboke lands within his jurisdiction in Salem District.
subordinate officials from all the concerned departments
to evict all such encroachers from water bodies, water resources and poromboke lands within a stipulated
period.
dereliction of duty on the part of the public Officials,
then the District Collector is directed to initiate
appropriate prosecution and disciplinary proceeding against all such officials without any leniency.

5. The District Collector in this regard is directed to
conduct periodical review meeting with the concerned officials in respect of the removal of encroachment from water bodies, water resources and Government
poromboke lands.”
and posted the matter for compliance today.
“3 . I submit to state that in pursuance of the HOn'ble High Court orders 857.06.0 Hec. Objectionable poromboke identified by the various department out of this 260.28.0 Hect. encroachments evicted. Out of 544.19.0 Ha unobjectionable poromboke encrachments
were identified by various departments and out of which, 237.74.9 Ha so far evicted. Further I wish to state that as per the G.O.Ms.No.318 Revenue and Disaster Management Dept. dated 30.08.2019 necessary
action is being taken to issue patta by regularizing the
unobjectionable poromboke and alternate land is being
identified for objectionable poromboke encroachers ".

Apart from the above, it is also stated that a periodical monthly review meeting for eviction of encroachments in water bodies and Government poromboke lands is being conducted every month by the District Collector. He has also filed the details of the encroachments.
