These petitioners are close relatives of the accused who were arrested in Vyasarpadi Police Station Cr.No.14 of 2018 and were remanded to the Central Prison, Puzhal. It is alleged that while in detention, the accused had committed the murder of an inmate, for which, a separate case has been registered by the police. Under such circumstances, the petitioners have filed the present petition seeking medical treatment for the detenus.

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners, who submitted that the detenus had suffered serious injuries in the prison and they require immediate medical treatment.

In the opinion of this Court, the Puzhal Prison is sufficiently equipped with a Prison Hospital, where sufficient treatment can be given to the detenus, if they had suffered any injuries or illness and no mandamus need to be issued in a case of this nature. However, the Prison authorities are directed to give treatment to the detenus, if they are found to suffer any illness or injury.

With the above direction, these petitions are dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
