The petitioner was granted usual orders under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, in Crl.O.P.(MD)No.23894 of 2016, on 02.01.2017, with a direction to the petitioner to surrender before the Court concerned, within a period of fifteen days therefrom. Since the petitioner did not surrender, within fifteen days, he filed Crl.M.P.(MD)No.834 of 2017, for extension of time, which was ordered by this Court on 01.02.2017, on condition that the petitioner shall pay a cost of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) to the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority, attached to this Bench. The petitioner paid the cost and reported the matter to this Court on 08.02.2017. This Court permitted the petitioner to surrender before the Court concerned on or before 15.02.2017. However, the order dated 08.02.2017 was made ready only on 21.02.2017 and, therefore, the petitioner was not able to surrender before 15.02.2017. Therefore, the petitioner has filed the second application for extension of time.
