Prayer: Petition filed under Section 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to permit the petitioner to hold the public meeting on 25.11.2016 to be addressed by Mr.Seeman, the State Coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi at Shanmugam Salai, Near Thillai Complex, Tambaram.

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to permit the petitioner to hold a public meeting on 25.11.2016 to be addressed by Mr.Seeman, the State Coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi at Shanmugam Salai, Near Thillai Complex, Tambaram.

It is seen that the petitioner has given a representation dated 09.11.2016, to the Inspector of Police, S-11, Tambaram Police Station, Tambaram, for permission to conduct a public meeting on 25.11.2016.

In the meantime, the petitioner has also given a representation to the Revenue Divisional Officer, seeking permission to erect banners and the Revenue Divisional Officer has called for remarks from the Assistant Commissioner of https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Police, Tambaram and from the Commissioner of Municipality, Tambaram. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Tambaram has issued show cause notice dated 21.11.2016, asking the petitioner to appear before him for enquiry on 23.11.2016.

Mr.S.Xavier Felix, learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner appeared before the Assistant Commissioner of Police on 23.11.2016 and submitted his explanation.

In the light of the above, the respondents are directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 09.11.2016 and pass orders in accordance with law within one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The authorities may also permit the petitioner to hold the meeting on an alternative date since the time is too short for the authorities to consider the representation for the meeting to be held on 25.11.2016.

With the above direction, the writ petition is closed. No
costs.
