Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying this Court to issue a Writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to issue family card to the petitioner, viz., Shanmugasundaram, S/o Kumaravel residing at Door No.5/5/92A, MGR Colony, Mottupatti Road, 5th Ward, Tharamangalam Post, Salem District as per the applications of the petitioner dated 05.08.2011 and 03.02.2014.

The prayer in the writ petition is for the issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to issue ration card to the petitioner, viz., Shanmugasundaram, S/o Kumaravel residing at Door No.5/5/92A, MGR Colony, Mottupatti Road, 5th Ward, Tharamangalam Post, Salem District as per his representations dated 05.08.2011 and 03.02.2014.

The case of the petitioner is that, he had applied for issue of ration card along with the relevant documents to the respondents as early as 05.08.2011. Since the same has not been considered, the petitioner sent a reminder dated 03.02.2014. However, till date no action has been taken by the respondents. Hence the present writ petition.

Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader by producing a copy of the letter of the second respondent in Roc.No.300/2014C1 dated 07.06.2014 would submit that the petitioner's application is under process and the delay caused is due to the bye-election in Yercaud and 2014 Parliamentary election. He would further submit that the petitioner's representation would be considered and the ration card will be issued soon.

Taking into consideration the fact that the application is already under process, the respondents are directed to consider the petitioner's representations dated 05.08.2011 and the reminder dated 03.02.2014 and pass appropriate orders for the issuance of ration card within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed
of. No costs.
