PRAYER : Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to dispose of representation dated 25.08.2011 and consequent reminder on 19.09.2011 on merits in accordance with law within the time frame fixed by this Court.

The prayer of the petitioner is only for a direction to the respondent to dispose of his representation. Though the prayer appears to be very innocuous, it cannot be granted for more reasons than one. They are as follows:
(i) The petitioner was elected as the President of Pitchampatti Village Panchayat in the elections held in October 2006. His tenure is coming to an end in another four days. The representation made by him to the respondent, for the disposal of which he has come up with the above writ petition, is to the effect that his predecessors who held office from 2001 to 2006 did not hand over the records relating to the Panchayat. I do not know what the petitioner was doing from October 2006 till September 2011 the date of filing the above writ petition, without seeking to enforce such right.
(ii). In any case his tenure is coming to an end in another four days. Therefore the direction sought, cannot be issued. Hence the writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
