Mll\'JSTRY 'oiF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUilUC DISTRIBUTION · (Depa..-nnentofFood and Public Distribution) New Delhi, the 23rdJanuary, 2004 G.S.R. 72(E).-ln exercise of the powers conferred by Section 9 of the Sugar Development Fund Act, 1982 (4 of 1982), the Central Govcrrnnent hereby makes the following rules further' to amend the Sugar Development Fund Rules, 1983, . namely:- !. (1) These rules maybe called the Sugar Development Fund (Amendment) Rules, 2004. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Sugar Development Fund Rules, 1983, (hereinafterreferred to as the said rules), in the heading of Chapter Xl, after tile words. "Ethanol from Alcohol", the words "or from Molasses" shall be inserted. 3. In the said rules, in rule 22, (a) in sub-rule(!),- (i) in clause (b), the word "or" shall be inserted at the end; .. (li) after clause (b), the following clause (c) shall be inserted, ruunely.:,- "(c) the sugar factory having an iustalled capacity of 2500 Tonnes crush per day or higher is implementing a · project appraised by a Financial Institution or a Scheduled Bank, for the production of anhydrous alcohol or . ethanol from molasses and bas been approved financial assistance by the said Financial Institution or Scheduled· Bank and undertakes to meet at least ten per cent of the cost of the project from its own resources as part of the promoter's contribution requ!red by the Financial Institution or the Scheduled Bank, as the case may be." (b) in sub-rule (l 0), after clause (b), the following clause shall be inserted, namely :- . "(c) In respect of a sugar factory that lias applied for a loan; falling !mde( clause (c) of 8ub- rule (!), the Central. Government may aftercoilsideration of the recomrriendation of the Committee and any other relev.antfactor\vith a view to improving its viability, authorize payment of an amount ofloan not exceeding forty per. cent of the eligible · · (c) iri sub-rule '(12), after the word, brackets and letter "clause (a)," the words, brackets aild letter ::or clause (c)'',
