Creation of Sessions sub-division for the revenue talukas of Khanapur, Atpadi, Palus and Kadegaon in Sangli District and establishment of a Court of Sessions at Vita (Taluka Khanapur) to be presided over by the Additional Sessions Judge, for trial of cases arising within the limits of the said Sessions sub-division.

No. Nyayastha-1022/C.R.130/Desk-11.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 read with section 9 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974), in its application to the State of Maharashtra, and of all other powers enabling it in this behalf; and in partial modification of all earlier notifications issued in that behalf, in so far as they relate to the revenue talukas of Khanapur, Atpadi, Palus and Kadegaon in Sangli District, the Government of Maharashtra, after consultation with the High Court of Judicature at Bombay, hereby, with effect from 4th February, 2024, creates Sessions sub-division for the revenue talukas of Khanapur, Atpadi, Palus and Kadegaon in Sangli District and establishes a Court of Sessions at Vita (Taluka Khanapur) to be presided over by the Additional Sessions Judge, for trial of cases arising within the limits of the said Sessions sub-division. The Sessions Judge, Sangli shall also be the Sessions Judge for the Sessions sub-division at Vita (Taluka Khanapur) and shall have the powers to withdraw unto himself or assign to any other Court of competent jurisdiction, the cases from the said Sessions sub-division, or to assign unto the Assistant or Additional Sessions Judge at Vita, any such cases as he thinks fit.
