Establishment of a Sessions division for the revenue tahsils of Chiplun and Guhagar in Ratnagiri District with a Court of Sessions presided over by the Additional Sessions Judge for trial of cases arising within its jurisdiction.

No. Sankirna-2018/742/C.R.134/Desk-11.-ln exercise of the powers conferred by sections 14and 19 of the Maharashtra Civil Courts Act, 1869 (XIV of t 869), and of all other powers enabling it in this behalf, and in partial modification of all other earlier notifications issued in this behalf, in so far as they relate to the revenuetalukasof ChiplunandGuhagar in RatnagiriDistrict, the Governmentof Maharashtra, hereby direct that, with effect from the 8th March, 2020. (a) There shall be a Court at Chiplun in the revenue District of Ratnagiri, and the said Court shall be presided over by the District Judge-1, Chiplun ; (b) The local limits of the ordinary jurisdiction of the said Court shall be co-extensive with and cover the areas comprising the revenue talukas of Chiplun and Guhagar in Ratnagiri District; (c) All the powers of the Principal District Judge, Ratnagiri in respect of the revenue talukas of A Chiplun and Guhagar in Ratnagiri District shall vest in the said District Judge-1, Chiplun, except those ., vested in the Principal District Judge under section 9 of the said Act and except his power to assign to DistrictJudgeat Chiplunor withdrawuntohimselfor to assignto anotherCourtof Competentjurisdiction, such matter as he thinks fit. The Sessions Judge, Ratnagiri, shall also be the Session Judge for the Session Division at Chiplun, and shall have the powers to withdraw unto himself or assign to any other Court of competent ju risdiction, the cases from the said Sessions Division, or to assign unto the Additional Sessions Judge at Chiplun, any case as he thinks fit.
