Establishment of District and Additional Session Court at Belapur, Navi Mumbai, District Thane

No. SANKIRN 0118/158/C.R.37/DESK 11.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 7 by read with section 9 of the Code of Criminal Procedure,1973 (2 of 1974), in its application to the State of Maharashtra, and of all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Government of Maharashtra after consultation with the High Court of Judicature at Bombay, hereby, with effect from 7th April 2023, creates a Sessions Sub-Division for the revenue villages specified in the Schedule appended hereto, in Thane Taluka in Thane District and establishes the Court of Sessions at Belapur to be presided over by the Additional Sessions Judge, for trial of cases arising within the limits of the said Sessions Sub-Division. The Sessions Judge, Thane, shall also be the Sessions Judge for the Sessions Sub-Division, Belapur, Navi Mumbai, and shall have the powers to withdraw unto himself or assign to any other Court of competent jurisdiction, the cases from the said Sessions Sub-Division, or to assign unto the Additional Sessions Judge at Belapur, Navi Mumbai, any such cases as he thinks fit.
