Authenticity may be verified through https://compose.kerala.gov.in/ In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Kerala Forest Act, 1961 (4 of 1962), the Government of Kerala hereby,- (a) declare that it is proposed to constitute the land within the boundaries specified in the Schedule attached below as a Reserved Forest; (b) appoint the Revenue Divisional Officer, Perinthalmanna, ex-officio, to be the Forest Settlement Officer, in regard to the land within the boundaries specified in the Schedule to this notification, to inquire into and determine the existence, nature and extent of any rights claimed by, or alleged to exist in favour of, any person in or over any land comprised within such boundaries, or any forest produce of such land, and to deal with the same as provided in the said Act; and (c) appoint the Divisional Forest Officer, Nilambur South, ex-officio, to attend on behalf of the Government at any enquiry under Chapter II of the said Act held by the Forest Settlement Officer, appointed in this behalf. 24th Makaram, 1197. The area specified in the schedule to the notification having an extent of 3.254 hectares of land comprised in Re-survey no. 119/200/6 and 119/156/8 in Karulai Village, Nilambur Taluk in Malappuram district which falls under the jurisdiction of Kalikavu Range and Nilambur South Division is under the possession and ownership of Forest Department for quite a long period. The said land have flora of ecological significance and abundant tree growth. It is the responsibility of the Government to protect the said land and the flora and tree growth thereon.
