Notification issued u/s 7(1) (b) of COFEPOSA Act against Shri Harmeet Singh

EXTRAORDINARY PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 2350] NEW DELHI, FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 2020/SRAVANA 16, 1942 MINISTRY OF FINANCE (Department of Revenue) (CENTRAL ECONOMIC INTELLIGENCE BUREAU) (COFEPOSA WING) ORDER New Delhi, the 7th August, 2020 S.O. 2650(E).—Whereas the Joint Secretary to the Government of India, specially empowered under sub- section (1) of Section 3 of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 (52 of 1974) issued Order No. PD-12002/05/2020-COFEPOSA dated 05.6.2020 under the said sub-section directing that Shri Harmeet Singh, S/o Shri Jaspal Singh, R/o (i) H.No.9964, Gali No. 4, Multani Dhanda, Pahar Ganj, Delhi -110055 ; (ii) 5/13, Ramesh Nagar, Delhi -110015 be detained and kept in Tihar Central Jail, Tihar Jail, New Delhi with a view to preventing him from smuggling goods, abetting the smuggling of goods and engaging in transporting or concealing or keeping smuggled goods, in future . 2. Whereas the Central Government has reasons to believe that the aforesaid person has absconded or has been concealing himself so that the said Order cannot be executed. 3. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the said Act, the Central Government hereby directs the aforesaid person to appear before the Commissioner of Police, Delhi within 7 days of the publication of this Order in the Official Gazette.
