Multimodal Transport Document Rules, 1994

In exercise of ihe pouerc confefied by section 30 of the Multimodal Transportation of Goods Act, i993 (Za oT lsss), the Central Gooernmmt hereby makes the lollouting 1. Short title and cortmencement.-(1) These mles may be called Tur (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Definitions.-Ln these mles, unless the context otherwise requires- (a) "Act" means the Multimodal Traruportation of Goods A ct,1993; (D) "docummt" means the Multimodal Transport Document referred to in section 7of the AcU (c) The words and expressions used herein and not defined but defined in the Act shall have the meaning respectively assigned to them in the Act. 3. Contract for Multimodal Transportation.-Where the consignor and the Multimodal Traruport Operator have entered into a conkact for the Multimodal Transpb*aUori and the Multimodal Transport Operator has takm charge of the goo-ds, he shall issue a document, a model of which may be prescribed by the competent authority by a Special or General Order, with the approval of the Central Govemment. 1. yids G.S.R 311(E), dated 93-1994, published in the Cazette of India, Ext., Pt.
