MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 27th July, 2010 S.O. 1995(E).-—Whereas the draft rules amending the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter House) Rules, 2001 were published, as required by sub-section (1) of Section 38 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (59 of 1960) under the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Environment and Forests vide number S.0.3316(E), dated 21 st December, 2009 in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated 31 st December, 2009 inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby, before the expiry of the period of forty-five days from the date on which copies of the Gazette containing the said notification are made available to the public; _ And, whereas, copies of the said Gazette were made available to the public on the 31 st day of December, 2009; And, whereas no objection or suggestion has been received from the public in respect of the said draft rules by the Central Government; \ Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of Section 38 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (59 of 1960), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter House) Rules, 2001, namely:— 1. (1) These rules may be called Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter House) Amendment Rules, 2010. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter House) Rules, 2001, in rule 9, in sub-rule (1), for the words "any person or Animal Welfare Organisation authorized by its, may", the words "a State Animal Welfare Board or any person who is a qualified veterinarian and is authorised by the Animal Welfare Board of India, may, at least once in every six months period", shall be substituted. Note:—The Principal Rules were published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Notification Number S.0.270(E), dated 26th March, 2001.
