Subsequently, w~ile considering implementation of these Regulations, requisite . clarifications were issued to all the Regional Committees of NCTE relating to various points vide NCTE's letter No 48-3/2008/NCf'E (N &S) dated 21st January, 2008. The matter regarding cut off date and time limit prescribed in the clause 5(4) and 5(5) of)hese Regulations has further been reconsidered in view of the fact that'these Regulations were notified on 10th December, 2007 i.e. after the cut off date for submission fo~ applicatiori for current academic . session i.e. 2008-2009 was over as per clause 5(4) of these Regulations. Accordingly, in modification of the above Regulations and in exercise of the powers conferred under Section'32(2) of the NCTE Act, 1993, the NCTE hereby makes the following Regulations: 1. Short title and commencem~nt'.--(i) These Regulations may be called the National Council for Teacher Education (Recognition Norms and Procedure) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2008. (ii) They shall come into force w.eJ. the date of the.irpublication in the Official Gazette. 2. Definitions.-1.In these regulations,' unless' the context otherwise requires, an .the words and eXpressions used herein and defined in the National Council for Teacher .' Education Act, 1993! ApplicabiIity.-;-These 'regulations shalt be applicable to all matters relating' to. teacher education 'r programmes covering norms and standards and procedures for recognition of institutions; commencement of new prograplmes and addition to sanctioned intake in existing' . programmes and others matters incidental thereto. These amendment regulations shall be applicable only for grant of recognition/permission to start teacher training course for the current academic session i.e ..2oo8-2oo9 and not for any subsequent year. From next academic session i.e. 2009-2010 onwards, the cut'6ff date and time limits mentioned incla~se 5(4) and 5(5) of the Regulations shall strictly be enforced.' .
