From the Engineer-in-Chief, Water Resources Department and Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department, Letter No. S2(2)/21625/2017, dated 4. From the Director for Welfare of the Diff erently Abled, Letter Roc. No. 5234/DAW-3.1/2016, dated17-10-2019. Order: G.O. (Ms) No. 6, Welfare of Diff erently Abled As per Section 33(i) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (Central Act 49 of 2016) “the appropriate Government shall identify posts in the establishments which can be held by respective category of persons with benchmark disabilities in respect of the vacancies reserved in accordance with the provisions of Section 34” of the said Act. 2. In the Government order second read above, 235 posts under group A & B category were identifi ed as most suitable for diff erently abled persons under 4% reservation. 3. In the letter third read above, the Engineer-in-Chief, Water Resources Department and Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department has requested to identify the posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil), Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Assistant Engineer (Electrical), Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Mechanical) and Junior Engineer (Electrical) under Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories suitable for diff erently abled persons for providing 4% reservation in employment. 4. In the letter fourth read above, the Director for Welfare of the Diff erently Abled has recommended to identify the posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil), Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Assistant Engineer (Electrical), Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Mechanical) and Junior Engineer (Electrical) under Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories suitable for diff erently abled persons for providing 4% reservation in employment in Public Works Department. 5. The Government after careful examination, have decided to accept the recommendation of the Director for Welfare of the Diff erently Abled and to approve the following six posts under Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories which are most suitable for diff erently abled persons for providing 4% reservation in employment in Public Works Department:- 2 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY Sl. The Government also direct that 4% of the vacancies in direct recruitment for the identifi ed posts in ‘A’ and ‘B’ Groups, where the rule of reservation is applicable for the SCs / STs / BCs and other communities, shall be reserved for the Diff erently Abled Persons. If only one post is available for recruitment in these categories, the usual procedure for recruitment will be followed. The Government also directed that, (i) The reservation of 4% vacancies earmarked for the diff erently abled persons will be applicable to identify the posts in respect of ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories for direct recruitment posts only. (ii) The reservation of 4% vacancies for diff erently abled persons need not be made applicable in the case of recruitment by transfer/ promotion as it would amount to giving double preference to these candidates. (iii) If any department / establishment is of the view that any particular post in ‘A’ and ‘B’ category is not suitable for diff erently abled persons, in such case, it may specifi cally request the Government for exemption. The administrative department in consultation with the State Commissioner for the Diff erently Abled and the Government shall issue appropriate orders. (iv) The individuals selected for ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories of posts should be asked to produce certifi cate of physical fi tness and the disability certifi cate as stated in section 3(oo) of Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2017. 7.
