Authenticity may be verified through https://compose.kerala.gov.in/ In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Kerala Forest Act, 1961 (4 of 1962), the Government of Kerala hereby,- (a) declare that it is proposed to constitute the land within the boundaries specified in the Schedule attached below as a Reserved Forest; (b) appoint the Revenue Divisional Officer, Perinthalmanna ex-officio, to be the Forest Settlement Officer, in regard to the land within the boundaries specified in the Schedule to this notification, to inquire into and determine the existence, nature and extent of any rights claimed by, or alleged to exist in favour of any person, in or over any land comprised within such boundaries, or any forest produce of such land and to deal with the same as provided in the said Act; and (c) appoint the Divisional Forest Officer, Nilambur North, ex-officio, to attend on behalf of the Government at any enquiry under Chapter II of the said Act held by the Forest Settlement Officer, appointed in this behalf. 8th Meenam, 1197. Explanatory Note (This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.) The area specified in the schedule to the notification having an extent of 2.5340 hectares of land comprised in Survey Number 32 of Nilambur Village, Nilambur Taluk in Malappuram District which falls under the jurisdication of Nilambur Forest Range under Nilambur North Forest Division is under the possession and ownership of Forest Department. The said land have luxuriant tree growth including species like Teak, Maruth, Irul, Pala, Nelli, Puli, Acacia, Pana, Kanjiram, Matti, Dandapala, Thavalamaram, Karimaruthu, Mavu etc. and is the habitat for various types of birds, reptiles, mammals and insects. It is the responsibility of the Government to protect the said land and the tree growth and the ecosystem thereon. Therefore the Government finds it necessary to declare the land as a Reserved Forest named ‘Vadapuram Reserve’ under the provisions of the Kerala Forest Act, 1961 (4 of 1962).
