EXTRAORDINARY PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 470] NEW DELHI, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2020/ASVINA 1, 1942 MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 23rd September, 2020 G.S.R. 579(E).—Whereas, the draft of certain rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, was published as required by sub-section (1) of section 212 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988) vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways number G.S.R. 436(E) dated the 10 th July, 2020, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby within a period of thirty days from the date on which copies of the Gazette containing the said notification were made available to public; AND whereas, copies of the Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public on the 10 th July, 2020; AND whereas, no objections and suggestions were received from the public in respect of the said draft rules; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 110of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement.-(1) These rules may be called the Central Motor Vehicles (Ninth Amendment) Rules, 2020. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, after rule 115H, the following rule shall be inserted, namely:- “115I. Requirements for the motor vehicles running on compressed gaseous hydrogen fuel cell.- (1) The motor vehicles of Category M and Category N, running on compressed gaseous hydrogen fuel cell shall be in accordance with AIS 157:2020, as amended from time to time, till the corresponding BIS specification is notified under the Bureau of Indian Standard Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). (2) The hydrogen fuel specification for fuel cell vehicles shall be in accordance with ISO 14687 till the corresponding BIS specification is notified under the Bureau of Indian Standard Act, 2016 (11 of 1986).” PRIYANK BHARTI, Jt.
