IICO(E).— Whereas sub-scction 0 ) of section 4 of tlie Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990 (25 of 1990) (liercinafter rcfcired to as tlie said Act) requires tliat the Ch:iinntui aiid tlie other Members, cxccpi the ex-officio Members, tlie Nominated Members and tlie electcd Members shall be appointed by tlie President of India on the recommeiidatiou of a committee consisting of the Members specified in that sub-section: And whereas tlie President, in exercise of tlie powers conferred by sub-section (1), read witli snb-section (4) of section 4 of the said Act and on tlie recommendation of the committee, appinted tlie following persons on tlie Prasar Bharati Botrrd for a period of six years with cffect from (he dates they assmne charge, namely;— 1 Shri Nikliil C hakravarty................................................ — Chainnan 7. Slni Riijendra Y adav........................................................— Part-time Member And whereas Kliri Padmanabhaii has resigned from die office of Piirt-tiiiie Menibci on 15-05-98; And whereas snb-section (5) of section 6 of the said Act provides that as soon as may be aflcr the establishment of tlie Coiporation, the President of India may, by oi dcr, make such pro^'isions as lie tliniks fit for curtailing tlie term of office of some of the Part-lime Members Uien appointed ir order llial one-lliird of Uie Members holding office as such Part-time Members shall retire every second yeai tliereafter; And whereas tlic President, by notificalion No. S.O. 210(E), dated tlie 1st April, 1999, made the PnisarBhtirati (Curtailment of Term of Office of Pait- time Members) Order, 1999 (hereinafter referred to as tlie said Order); And whereas the President is of tlie opinion that curtailment of the tenn of office of Pari-timc Members under sub-section (5) of section 6 of the said Act should be based on cxpcricncc. expertise and background of the members and tlie contribudon to the effective and harmonious working of die Board; Now, therefore, in exercise c f the powers conftrred by snb-section ( ^), read witli sub-section (5) of seclion 6 of the said Act and in supersession of tlie said Order, (lie President, aflcrtaking into, consideration.— (a) the experience, expertise and background of the McTiibcrs; (b) their contribution to the effective and liannonions working of the Board, ' (c) relative indispensability of Part-time Members at Ihe present stage and the necessity of taking the benefit - of then sf^rviccs by tJieir retention for a further period of time; and (d) all other relevant circumstances, hereby makes tlic following order for curtailing die lemi of office of tlie above Part-time Members tlien appointed in order that one-thi:d of die Members holding office as such Part-time Members shall retire in evci"y sccond year thereafter in tlie mamier specified in the Table below ;— SI.
