Notification issued u/s 7(1) (b) of COFEPOSA Act against Shri Abhishek Bhavanbhai Ranpariya

EXTRAORDINARY PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 1610] NEW DELHI, MONDAY, JUNE 8, 2020/JYAISTHA 18, 1942 MINISTRY OF FINANCE (Department of Revenue) (CENTRAL ECONOMIC INTELLIGENCE BUREAU) (COFEPOSA WING) ORDER New Delhi, the 8th June, 2020 S.O. 1793(E).—Whereas the Joint Secretary to the Government of India, specially empowered under sub- section (1) of Section 3 of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 (52 of 1974) issued Order No. PD-12002/02/2020-COFEPOSA dated 14.02.2020 under the said sub-section directing that Mr. Abhishek Bhavanbhai Ranpariya, S/o Mr. Bhavanbhai Naranbhai Patel, R/o 80/633 Motilal Nagar No.3, M.G. Road, Goregaon West, Mumbai, Maharashtra -400104 be detained and kept in Arthur Road Jail, Sane Gureuji Marg, Arthur Road, Chinchpokli, Mumbai-400011 with a view to preventing him from smuggling goods; abetting the smuggling of goods; and engaging in transporting or concealing or keeping smuggled goods, in future. 2. Whereas the Central Government has reasons to believe that the aforesaid person has absconded or has been concealing himself so that the said Order cannot be executed. 3. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the said Act, the Central Government hereby directs the aforesaid person to appear before the Commissioner of Police, 92, Dr. Dadabhai Naroji Road, Police Colony, Dhobi Talao, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Area, Fort, Mumbai, Maharashtra - 400001 within 7 days of the publication of this Order in the Official Gazette.
