Establishment of Civil Court Senior Division at Bhiwandi, District Thane

No. NYASTHAP-0522/488/C.R. 71/DESK 11.— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 7 read with section 9 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974), in its application to the State of Maharashtra, and of all other powers enabling it in this behalf and in partial modification of all the earlier notifications issued in that behalf, in so far as they relate to the revenue tahsils of Bhiwandi, Wada, Jawhar, Vikramgad and Mokhada in Thane District, the Government of Maharashtra after consultation with the High Court of Judicature at Bombay, hereby with effect from 22nd October, 2023 creates a Sessions Sub- division for the revenue tahsils of Bhiwandi, Wada, Jawhar, Vikramgad and Mokhada in Thane District and establishes a Court of Sessions at Bhiwandi to be presided over by the Additional Sessions Judge, for trial of cases arising within the limits of the said Sessions Sub-division. The Sessions Judge, Thane, shall also be the Sessions Judge for the Sessions Sub- division at Bhiwandi and shall have the powers to withdraw unto himself or to assign to any other Court of competent jurisdiction, the cases from the said Sessions Sub- division or to assign unto the Additional Sessions Judge at Bhiwandi, any such cases as he thinks fit.
