Regarding the status of the police officer to be deputed by the executive officer of the police station for the purposes of sections 176 and 180 sub-section 1

No. CRM-2005/CR. 765 (PART-1)/Pol-11.– In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 176 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (46 of 2023), and in supersession of all earlier notifications, orders or instruments issued in this behalf, the Government of Maharashtra hereby prescribes that police officer, to be deputed by officer in charge of police station for the purposes of sub-section (1) of section 176 of the said Sanhita, shall be rank of :– (i) Head Constable and above; or (ii) Police Constable with following qualification and experience, Namely :– (a) Possess a degree; (b) Completed 7 years of services as a police constable; (c) Completed six weeks special training at Detective Training School, Nashik and passed the examination held in such training; and (d) No departmental enquiry pending against him.
