EXTRAORDINARY PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 730] NEW DELHI, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2022/MAGHA 28, 1943 MINISTRY OF JAL SHAKTI NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 17th February, 2022 S.O. 757(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5 of the Dam Safety Act, 2021 (41 of 2021), the Central Government hereby constitutes the National Committee on Dam Safety and appoints the 18th February, 2022 as the date on which the said committee shall come into force, with the following composition, namely:- 5.1(a) Chairman, Central Water Commission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India; Chairperson, ex officio 5.1(b) (2) Chairman, National Dam Safety Authority; Member, ex officio Member (Design & Research), Central Water Commission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India; Member, ex officio Member (Hydro), Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, Government of India; Member, ex officio Representative of D/o of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India not below the rank of Joint Secretary; Member, ex officio Representative of National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India not below the rank of Joint Secretary; Member, ex officio Representative of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, not below the rank of Joint Secretary, Government of India; Member, ex officio Director General, India Meteorological Department, Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India; Member, ex officio Director General, Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines, Government of India; Member, ex officio Director, National Remote Sensing Centre, Department of Space, Indian Space Research Organisation, Government of India; Member, ex officio Director, National Geophysical Research Institute, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; Member, ex officio 5.1(c) Seven (7) representatives of the State Government of the level of Engineer-in-chief or equivalent by rotation; Member, ex officio 5.1(d) (13) Three (3) specialists in the field of dam safety and allied fields; Member (14) Member (Policy and Research), NDSA, Government of India. Secretary (2) Seven (7) representatives of the State Governments, of the level of Engineer-in-Chief or equivalent from the following groups by rotation, to be nominated by the Central Government as Members, ex officio as per the procedure mentioned at clause (2.1) below:- a. Group I – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu b. Group II – Himachal Pradesh , Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana c. Group III – Arunachal Pradesh , Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim e. Group V – Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal g. Group VII - Rajasthan Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh (2.1) One member from each of the seven groups shall be nominated, on rotation, by the Central Government as members, ex officio, after completion of tenure of three years. (3) The National Committee may invite the representative of the States, Union Territories, owner of any specified dam and such other experts in dam safety (including international experts) as it may consider appropriate for the discharge of its functions under sub-section (2) of section (7) of the Act. (4) The above composition of National Committee on Dam Safety shall be in force for three years from the date of this Notification, and thereafter the committee shall be re-constituted.
