In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 58 of the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003 (Act 31 of 2003), read with section 94 of the said Act, the Government of Kerala hereby make the following tules further to amend the Kerala Irrigation and Water. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation (Amendment) Rules, 2020. (2) They shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of October, 2020. 2. Amendment of the rules.—In rule 23 of the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Rules, 2005, in clause (ii) of sub-rule (1), for the figures and word “70 years” the figures and word “71 years" shall be substituted. As per the existing provisions of rule 23 of the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Rules, 2005, amended as per G.O.(P) No.24/2010/WRD dated 29th April, 2010 and published as S.R.O. No.422/2010 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.1047 dated 29th April, 2010, the maximum age up to which the Chairman of the Kerala Dam Safety Authority can hold office is 70 years. Now the Government have decided to raise the age limit of Chairman, Kerala Dam Safety Authority to 71 years. This notification is intended to achieve the above object.
