JUDGMENT

The present writ petition has been filed for a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to take appropriate steps for the disbursement of the reward amount in connection with the seizure of gold items at two airports as mentioned in the writ petition.

Mr. Sreelal N.Warrier, learned Standing Counsel for the respondents submits that the reward amount has not been disbursed till the date because of identification issue and in all likelihood, the issue has been sorted out.

Considering the said stand, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents 2 and 3, i.e., the Additional Director General, DRI Zonal Unit and the Director Gerneral DRO Headquarters respectively, to process the claim

of the petitioner for the reward amount and if there is some issue of identification, the said issue should also be dealt with, with the co-operation of the petitioner. If some information is required from the petitioner regarding his identity, the petitioner should be issued notice in this regard and the petitioner should cooperate with the respondents for the disbursal of the reward amount. The whole process should not take more than one month from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this judgment, as this writ petition was pending before this Court since 2018.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. The respondents should be careful in not disclosing the identity of the petitioner pestering him in any manner.
