time of marriage, the petitioner/wife was given gold ornaments weighing 89.026 sovereigns. After the marriage, on 07/11/2016, a locker was opened in the joint name of the parties at Catholic Syrian Bank, Pandalam Branch. The entire ornaments of the petitioner had been kept in the locker except a few ornaments used for her daily use. The petitioner and the first respondent later exchanged certain gold ornaments at Chungath Jewellery, Ernakulam, and purchased 11 bangles and a small chain for the daily use of the petitioner. The gold ornaments which had been purchased by exchange, had also been kept in the house of the first respondent. After the marriage when the petitioner's parents came to the house of the respondents for the first time, a gold chain weighing 3 sovereigns was also given to the first respondent. At present the petitioner is in possession of only 13 sovereigns. On 30/11/2016 the first respondent sold some gold ornaments at Parthasarathy Jewellery, Adoor without the consent or knowledge of the petitioner and appropriated the entire amount of ₹6 lakhs obtained by the sale of the ornaments for his own needs. After the marriage, the respondents kept harassing the petitioner claiming that the first respondent would have got a better alliance. Thereafter, the first respondent deserted the petitioner and has now taken a stand that he is not interested in continuing the relationship with her.
