JUDGMENT

Petitioner is the holder of a regular permit of a stage carriage in relation to an inter district route. An application for renewal was filed anticipating expiry of the period of permit. The grievance of the petitioner is that, inspite of considerable delay, the application has not been disposed of.

When the matter was taken up, learned Senior Government Pleader submitted that, since it is an inter district route, concurrence of the sister RTA is sought and is awaited. It was assured that the matter will be placed before the next RTA meeting as far as possible.

In the result, Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction that the report of concurrence from the sister concern shall be expedited by the second respondent. It shall thereafter be placed before the first respondent, which shall pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment, after considering objection, if any. If for any reason, RTA meeting is not likely to be held within the above six weeks, it shall be completed and decision shall be taken by circulation,, invoking Rule 130 of the Kerala Motor Vehicles Rules.
